EffectCraft is a free multimedia app developed by ArtCraft. It is an open-source motion graphics and visual effects application that is built using Rust. This platform provides tools for creating animated titles, visual effects, and layered compositions. You can combine text, shapes, video footage, and other compositions, then animate elements using keyframes.
EffectCraft also includes a timeline-based editing workflow, a render queue, and Lottie import and export for creating animations intended for websites and applications. Its open-source licensing allows you to access and modify the software. Note that this application is still in development.
Advanced keyframes, layers, and 259 effects
EffectCraft offers a familiar animation workflow with keyframes, including linear, bezier, hold, and eased keys, plus roving keys and a graph editor for value and speed curves. It supports diverse layers, including text, shapes, footage, nested compositions, cameras, and lights, alongside parenting, track mattes, and 38 blend modes. With 259 effects covering blur, color correction, distortion, particles, keying, and stylization, you can create varied visual compositions.
Additionally, it provides 3D composition tools with cameras, depth of field, lighting, soft ray-traced shadows, and orbit, pan, and dolly controls. Its JavaScript expression system supports wiggle effects, loops, and layer references, allowing you to connect expressions directly to properties. For exporting, the application supports H.264, ProRes with alpha, PNG, TIFF, and 32-bit EXR image sequences, alongside GIF and Lottie import and export for web animations.
This platform is available through the ArtCraft Launcher, which installs Crafting Apps, selects compatible builds, and provides one-click updates with verified downloads. Users who prefer a standalone installation can download this app separately without the launcher. However, standalone users must check for new versions manually or install the launcher later to manage updates automatically. It is also important to note that this app is still in development.
